Crossroads Cafe

Located at the heart of Orchard Road, Crossroads Cafe takes casual dining to new heights with delicious food, great ambience and top-notch service. This popular local restaurant is the perfect place for people watching while our Executive Sous Chef, Christopher Smith, serves up a hearty meal.

Ladies will appreciate the flavourful healthy mains such as the Grilled Tasmanian salmon and Prawn & chorizo risotto. Watch out for the hanging blackboard displaying Chris’ offerings including the Slow braised New Zealand venison osso bucco, Pot roasted free range spring chicken and other real, honest food you love.

The cooking seems familiar, like the hearty meals enjoyed at home. The quality of the produce and ingredients is just what your mom would approve – the freshest, the best and at great value.

Key Staff Profile:

Christopher Smith
Executive Sous Chef

Singapore Marriott’s Executive Sous Chef , Christopher Smith, is perfection by accident by all accounts. Stumbling into the kitchen was by sheer coincidence.

Where Chris grew up, every boy wanted to be a surfer dude. Be the best, ride the waves and travel the globe - that was his plan. “I was not brought up with food background. I wanted to be the best that was my ambition. It was my thirst for travel that led me into the kitchen. And I got tired of peeling skins and sun burns,” Chris shares. The kitchens and more so the chefs he worked with in Australia and Asia taught him the discipline and his ambition took over from there. They taught him restraint and 3 Ts of cooking - timing, taste and tenacity! Now he just wants to be the best chef ever.

By any account, Christopher is an overachiever. He relished the days of surfing and is determined to ride the culinary waves and get notice. He was hired by the Palazzo Versace in Surfers Paradise and was recognized as Employee of the Year. In J.W. Marriott Hong Kong, he ran the American Grill Room and was chosen as the Manager of the Quarter in 2009.

His move to Singapore was an easy decision. As Marriott International’s 2nd Asia Pacific property, Singapore Marriott’s Crossroads Cafe is a natural fit for Chris. A comfortable, casual dining restaurant, where the portions served are generous, and the cooking style straightforward and full of flavour, everyone can find something he or she likes to eat at Crossroads Cafe. That sums up Chris’ philosophy to cooking: the tongue decides the menu, not fashion. His immense culinary talent and his ambition allow his food to speak for itself and his good looks help!

Chris is looking to serve up a big wave now at Crossroads Cafe. Simple, bold flavours and tasty dishes which leave that known warm feeling…
